ScrumU meeting notes - Jul 31 2009Submitted by tweber1 on Fri, 07/31/2009 - 1:55pm |
Attendees: Notre Dame, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Clemson
Georgia Tech - Completing first "real" sprint!! Grade entry function, part of larger ERP upgrade. Challenges - Office logistics, gainig buy-in to new approach.
Clemson - Thinking about how might fit Scrum into an upgrade project. There is one small project using Scrum, kicked off earlier this week. Functional user buy-in.
Cornell - Currently in Sprint #8 of 9 sprint project. 3000 hours on project. Things are going better. User story/backlog large when started, hard to get arms around. Decided to split into smaller user stories - this has helped the team. Also, encouraging team to commit to more reasonable amount, this has also helped. Doing well with fucntional user buy-in/Business Analyst conversion to just-in-time requirements. Challenges - Development team still working how they've always done it - different practices needed - test driven development. Idea - weekly code review.
Notre Dame - Went live with first Scrum software development - Faculty Appointments, working on since Jan, about 8-9 sprints. So far so good - rolling out to campus departments. Scrum training scheduled for Sept. Hope to use Scrum on 2 projects coming up.
Benoit going to Agile 2009 conference last week in August, in Chicago. Sponsored by ScrumAlliance. agilealliance.org
